Tampa’s population in 2018 was 391,883 with a growth rate of 1.99%. Its job growth rate last year was 2.3%. As evidenced by the many new high rises, Tampa is flourishing, 58% of the government jobs in Tampa are in education. The University of South Florida, two state colleges and seven local school districts are there. Large private employers include Publix Super Markets, Inc. with over 37,000 employees. Healthcare employers such as BayCare Health System and HCA West Florida Division employ 45,811 people in Tampa Bay.
With a large pool of jobs to choose from, temperate climate, higher education opportunities and low cost of living, Tampa is a major attraction those wanting the Florida lifestyle.
